New Moon still in Aries, Do something!

Hello Everyone,

So how has your last month been? If anything like mine, it’s been productive and determinedly focussed for 5 minutes and then 10 spent debating if I should have toasted bread with fresh coriander chatni or with butter. Actually I’ve just realised, I have always been this easily distracted!

So perhaps the past few weeks have been more densely diffused in a fog, which is often the case with Piscean energies—that’s my excuse anyway! This was the tone set by the last New Moon in Pisces even though it was immediately followed by the fiery, combustible, enterprising and active Aries energy.

So there were profound dreams along with sudden flashes of insights and very satisfying aha! moments. Then there were endless hours spent in necessary chores and others wasted in looking for a rug on the internet! Naturally the list of ‘things to do’ barely shortened—that reminds me, must consolidate my list of things to do, from 5 little note books.

If this fugue is a normal, regular state for you, then maybe this last month has been a little more spacey.

On the 18th of April (today)!, we are at a New Moon at 28 degrees of Aries which is very interesting methinks—as Aries is the first sign in the zodiac, representing the beginning of a New cycle of the natural year and yet it’s signifying that we are entering a slower phase as by the 20th, the sun will enter Taurus, a fixed, earth sign.

It’s almost like a last call to take action. Aries is an energetic and impulsive sign and if you are in sync with some of this energy, you could still take some action and do what YOU want to, if you didn’t think it too much.

For instance, a couple of weeks ago, I signed up for a 10 week full-day art class, and some tiny voice within is worrying it’s a bit too much of a commitment! But also, I am pleased as will be now forced to learn something I really want to.

Aries is instinctive and imaginative—and the Sun, our core Self, will not be back in this sign for a whole year! So sign up for one something you feel passionate about, don’t over think it.

Another aspect emphasising the need to act on your own behalf is Mars in Taurus square Jupiter in Leo, exact on this day.

This is Madonna meets Elizabeth Taylor! No fear about being deemed narcissistic, in fact no fear of what anyone thinks of you at all. Just the thought of it is so, so freeing. Both women epitomize glamour, untold wealth, fiercely strong self-wills, total independence, infinite self-confidence, self-belief, super achievers and what not.

If we could acquire half, heck a quarter of these qualities, we’d be well pleased with ourselves, believe in ourselves, feel worthy and utterly, fearlessly deserving of everything we want.

Mars, Jupiter in Leo, Aries all represent assertive, if not aggressive qualities, which we all have to one degree or another and when embodied and expressed in a healthy way, these can help you achieve success, go after your dreams.

When repressed or ignored they turn into irritation, anger, depression, anxiety, passive aggression and envy! In fact, if you can spot and acknowledge whom and what in them you envy, it’ll tell you exactly what you really want in your life. So don’t hide from your own envy—explore it, use it to learn about yourself.

The reason we (especially women) repress our assertiveness is we are trained to believe it’s selfish, bad, impolite, inconsiderate and the killer of all, un-feminine. (We really should be taught in-depth about Kali, Durga, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite and all other primitive goddesses).

Yet the problem for many of us in knowing when is it ok to speak up and when is it indeed inconsiderate.

Last evening while on the train I got into a compartment where a toddler was screaming on top of his lungs, I mean really powerful, full-throated relentless crying. The mother sat watching him calmly, occasionally giggling and offering a bottle of milk, utterly, defiantly unconcerned and unaffected that everyone else in the compartment was feeling assaulted by her poppet. Even the train attendants tried to intervene to no effect.

People were darting out into the next compartment, as did I after five minutes and yet she made no effort to choke him and he just didn’t pause for the full 20 minutes that I was there!

This is a perfect image of an Aries gone hysterical, and a Mars in Taurus woman (in some elaborate head covering) in full passive aggressive mode.

It’s a given that if you feel disempowered in some area of your life, you will exercise your aggression, usually passively, in some other..this is a psychological phenomena, technically described as ‘kick the dog syndrome.’

So you have to decide whether you want to harness this very productive and potentially fruitful energy, available until mid-May, to actually achieve something worthwhile or do you want to just irritate the hell out of everyone else.

If nothing else, start going for a vigorous walk everyday, pruning and de-weeding your garden, join a dance or music, art or cooking class.

On the 21st, Mars trines Pluto, giving added boost to whatever it is you decide to do.

The Full Moon falls on the 4th of May providing a half way marker to take stock of what has happened and what more needs to be done.

Stay Blessed,

Much love
