New Moon in Gemini, June 16; a critical message coming your way ;-)

Hi Everyone

Anchor yourself to something very solid in this airy, buzzy and vibrant New Moon in Gemini, on the 16th of June. Gemini is ruled by the god Hermes aka Mercury who is, among other things, the messenger of the gods. So be open to receiving messages this month—that can expand and open the way you think, your ideas, the way you communicate.

Gemini is the sign of connection, information, language, travel. And this New Moon in this very communicative sign is very tightly conjunct the god of war Mars!

This conjunction of the sun and moon is also square Chiron—the centaur Teacher and Healer. Chiron will bring into awareness something that you may have buried, something from your past, a pattern that you think you are done with, been there—and we don’t usually bury happy thoughts. So it’s likely that a painful issue surfaces so that you can look at it, you need to sit with the pain before you can release it.

What you can expect this month is to learn one or two of many possible lessons. Mars teaches you how to assert yourself and in Gemini it can show you how to speak and say what you need to say instead of staying with your usual tendency to suck it up. Consequently, it will also show the guilt and fear that comes up when you Do assert yourself.

Most of us are conditioned to always be careful with other peoples’ feelings, to not say what we really want to even if there is only a remote chance that it might offend someone. If we are upset with someone and want to let them know, or if we want to say No to someone’s unreasonable request, or speak up in any situation that is possibly confrontational what we invariably feel is anxiety.

Speaking up brings up guilt. Not speaking up makes us resentful, angry, hurt. So we keep stewing or churning up feelings and thoughts that eventually do nothing but harm us.

Chiron’s involvement in aspects make us extremely vulnerable and only if don’t go into denial and examine all the feelings and self-beliefs that come up that there can be huge insights and learning.

Chiron also has a tendency to bring up old wounds. In fact I am convinced that when Chiron is active, or where he resides in your birth chart you see issues that have gone on for a life time or two.

So this month, there may be some kind of replay of a recurrent theme in your life, an event, or something may be said to you, that feels hurtful and if you pause and reflect you realise it’s really an old wound, an old belief, about yourself, about a situation.

If, for instance, you have low self worth—which many of us do to one degree or another, something ordinary—like a text, a phone call, a casual conversation, an email, a post on social media (all Geminian activities) will rake it up. Your first response, with Mars there, is likely to be to hit back. But if you do, be prepared for it to get messy—they are getting the same transits!

But the key is Chiron doesn’t bring up painful stuff just to hurt you—he brings it up because it is ALREADY hurting you—but you are trying to, consciously or subconsciously, bury it.

If you get triggered, it’s because the issue is already armed and ready in your psyche. If it were a Non-issue in your life, you wouldn’t even notice it.

Also, if we have a tendency to always be careful with what we say, the stored up resentment can suddenly blurt out and you end up hurting someone even though you don’t mean to.

Another way we could end up hurting ourselves and others is by criticism or self-criticism. All criticism, even if we think it’s constructive, usually hurts because most of us have very thin skins, or low self-esteem that makes us extremely sensitised to even a raised eyebrow.

The consequence of this fragile sense of self is we are forever modifying our behaviour to accommodate or please others so they like us at all cost.

Neuroscientists have identified something called our brain’s Negativity bias—which is that our minds are like teflon for any praise and velcro for any criticism. If 20 people praise us for something and one person says something mildly critical, we’ll ignore the 20 compliments and fret about the single criticism!

This month we are very likely to see this Negativity bias in operation within ourselves. To change this behaviour I now aim to follow Brene Brown’s idea that if you are not taking a risk, being out there in the arena, creating something and instead are just telling me how I could be doing better—I am not interested in your opinion!

And nothing like Chironan lessons, even if they are bloody painful, to gain insight into your psyche. So say if you feel hurt or angry or defensive by a random comment, you know there is a juicy bit for you to work on. Develop some emotional muscle — don’t allow yourself to continue being so fragile and vulnerable to people who don’t know you, are ignorant, or malicious or just irrelevant.

As if this is not enough, on the 23rd Mercury is square Neptune the God of illusion, inspiration, divinity and cinema and many other things. So double check or take with a pinch of salt any vital piece of information, or something that is important to you—even if someone is not being deliberately deceitful, they may just be misguided and therefore misguide you.

Jupiter and Uranus meet in the last of three trines on the 22nd and this is an exciting, energetic, and uplifting kind of energy which helps you see possibilities, let go of outmoded beliefs and patterns that have kept you stuck to behaviours that just don’t work for you anymore.

All in all, you can look forward to a very productive, insightful and expansive month ahead. Make connections, read, write, travel, go for walks, change one thought pattern that keeps you from going forward.

Until next time,

Blessings and Love
